Tungsten polymer, also known as resin tungsten alloy, is a product of various resin materials combined with tungsten alloy particles in different proportions. Tungsten alloy accounts for 60% of the volume of the product, but the weight accounts for more than 96% of the whole product. The resins can include polypropylene, polybutene, polyurethane, thermoplastic materials, etc.
Tungsten polymer combines the high density, high radiation absorption capacity of tungsten and the characteristics of simple processing, high tensile strength and plasticity of resin. Therefore, tungsten polymer is the best raw material of shield and can replace lead. The extensibility of tungsten polymer is also higher than that of lead material. In the electronic field, tungsten polymer can provide better radiation shielding ability. Due to the plasticity of tungsten polymer, tungsten polymer has high flexibility in the design of electronic equipment. Tungsten polymers and lead materials are commonly used as raw materials for shielding parts. Practice shows that the shielding ability of tungsten polymer is much higher than that of lead.
